On January 7, the founder of Mokee announced the official closure of the project.

Mokee (魔趣), full name MoKee OpenSource, was launched on December 12, 2012 by Martin Longzhu. It is the largest non-profit open source ROM in China. It was based on CyanogenMod (CM) in the early stage. In 2016, CyanogenMod stopped developing, and then started to be based on AOSP.

Moqu ROM is based on AOSP for secondary development. All customizations follow the Material Design design language introduced by Google, which is consistent with the original Android interface. This customization method reduces the difficulty of version upgrades. Compared with the slow and inactive updates of device manufacturers, Moqu ROM can always follow Google and bring users the latest Android system early.

project history

  • Moqu Forum, formerly known as ITFunz Motorola Mobile Phone Forum, was initiated and established by MartinCZ (Martin Dragon Pig) on July 17, 2009.
  • On May 25, 2011, the ITFunz forum was forcibly closed due to political incidents in the place where the forum was registered, and the domain name could not be accessed. So the ITFunz forum was renamed the Magic Fun Forum. Due to the change of the domain name, the website lost a large number of users, and Moqu Forum was forced to transform. Martin Longzhu established Moqu Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. on June 30, 2011, and served as the chairman and CEO, and began to develop Moqu OS. The forum still maintains a non-commercial non-governmental operation and does not belong to the company system.
  • On November 7, 2012, due to fierce competition in the industry and a broken capital chain, Moqu Technology announced its disintegration, and Moqu OS stopped updating.
  • On December 12, 2012, because Martin Longzhu was unwilling to give up, the Moqu Forum launched a new Moqu open source project.
  • On February 6, 2014, the growth rate of overseas users of Moqu Open Source Project surpassed that of domestic users for the first time.
  • On February 8, 2015, Mofun launched the “Athena Project”, trying to transform Mofun into a smart ROM, but the project was shelved later.
  • In 2015, Moqu’s download server moved from the United States to Japan.
  • In September 2017, the Moqu open source project launched a new forum, and then the old forum was forced to jump to the new forum by 301.
  • On January 7, 2023, Martin Longzhu announced that the Moqu project was shut down, and the forum and download center were instantly inaccessible, leaving only the project homepage accessible.
