Apache Baremaps is a toolkit and set of infrastructure components for creating, publishing, and manipulating online maps. It provides a data pipeline that enables developers to build maps using different data sources with live reloading. It provides other services commonly used in online maps, such as location search and IP to location.

Apache Baremaps is inspired by Osmosis, but it has additional features such as the ability to:

• Use the Stream API introduced in Java 8 to process data in parallel
• Import data faster with Postgresql’s COPY API
• Create postgis geometry on the fly with JTS
• Create and serve custom Vector Tiles

In the long run, the project aims to use various data sources to create highly specialized and customized maps.
