The FreeBSD Release Engineering team has announced preliminary release plans for the current stable series, including FreeBSD 13.2 and 12.4, and the next-generation FreeBSD 14.0.

FreeBSD 13.0-RELEASE debuted in April 2021, and more than two years after that, FreeBSD 14.0 is expected to be released, coinciding with the two-year gap between FreeBSD major releases.

FreeBSD 14.0-RELEASE is tentatively scheduled for release on July 17 next year. In order to achieve this goal, the freeze of the kernel binary interface will start around April 25, enter the stable/14 branch in mid-May, and start beta testing before the end of May. After several weeks of beta and rc releases, FreeBSD 14.0-RELEASE is expected to be complete by mid-July.

The FreeBSD release engineering team also revealed that FreeBSD 12.4 will be released in December this year, and FreeBSD 13.2 will be released in March next year.
