Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.1 has been released,Version 9.1 brings many new features and functionality, including enhancements to SQL, the use of Red Hat Satellite Red Hat Intelligent Management,Red Hat Insights and workstations.
RHEL 9.1 builds on the enhancements introduced in version 9.0, including some advanced automation and management features, such as the RHEL web console and system roles, making it easier for customers to automate manual tasks, standardize deployments at scale, and simplify day-to-day management of systems.
SQL enhancements
Enhanced SQL Server system roles allow customers to install, configure, and tune single-node SQL Server environments and SQL Server always-on availability groups. This enhancement, delivered with the RHEL High Availability Add-on, provides operational efficiency for consistent mission applications through automation.
Red Hat Insights
New features in Red Hat Insights for RHEL 9.1 include:
- Subscription Updates – Simple Content Access (SCA) is now enabled by default
- Use Activation Keys on the Hybrid Cloud Console (HCC) for easier activation
- Snow Software integration now generally available
- Malware detection service now generally available
- Advice on edge devices
- Auto-registration is available for public cloud instances
RHEL for workstations
RHEL for Workstations 9.1 now natively supports Mozilla Firefox on Gnome Wayland sessions, allowing users to use more native tools. The XWayland/X11 Gtk+ backend is still available via the additional firefox-x11 package.
