Unreal Engine 5.1 releaseThe first preview release is now available for download in the Epic Games launcher and GitHub repository.

5.1 Preview Update Summary

Unreal Engine 5.1 improves many of the features available at UE5 launch, creating a more streamlined and easy-to-use workflow for the creation of real-time 3D content. This release also improves the performance of Lumen, Nanite, and Virtual Shadow Maps (VSM), and supports running the game at 60 fps on consoles and PCs.

In 5.1, developers can build expansive worlds with new features and improved workflows for world partitioning, including support for large world coordinates, as well as experience significant improvements to the animation pipeline, such as ICVFX performance and usability improvements.

Another interesting change in Unreal Engine 5.1 is the introduction of a new collection of automated particle swarms. The automated PSO collection will attempt to address the shader stuttering issues previously seen in Unreal Engine 4 powered games. This feature makes a lot of sense since many UE4 games have had similar issues before.
