Unpopular Opinion here…They keep making it more complicated than it has to be. It's still SO confusing. With all the advances made in web design/development, and considering it's a 20 year old platform, they still haven't managed to make it intuitive or user friendly. Each new release is slightly better than the last, but never like, "Wow…They finally got it!".
Hey Dave. I hope you're really well! I'm about to make my first site and had being preparing to get Elementor before watching this video. As a total novice who is going to have to start from scratch with everything and therefore has nothing to "unlearn", can I forgo Elementor for designing my website and do everything "in house" within WordPress now?
Many thanks for your time!
guys, where is "Site Identity" so I can change the favicon?
No one cares about Gutenberg
Just a bit too frenetic for someone who isn't familiar with WP.
How can I download it and work without buying a domain?
Gutenberg if u have the gutts.. Beat Elementor.. Then iam gonna use this
Tnx for this great video , I believe very soon cool tools will be developed for Gutenberg and we'll need less plugins and page builders
but why there's no core change in wordpress after all these years like change admin UI or even better different table for post types instead of storing everything in the posts table…
Can you give us any news about future of this king of crms? I don't want the fall story happened to nokia happens to wordpress
The fact is this crm rules but idk about the years later…
Reaching out to you as part of the core team – Would it be possible for the WP core team to allow feature requests / user feedback in a more structured, visible and manageable way – e.g: using something like ProductBoard or AirFocus?
And relating to that, why are fundamental features (not considered) such as page/post duplicate and Email not available, where you have to install additional plugins to enable this?
thanks
Honestly, I am super dissapointed on the direction WordPress is going. I believe you guys should be making it a better CMS experience and not a website builder (there are already way better builders and a lot of competition on the space). At the end of the day, WordPress is a CMS. Why not focus all this energy on doing stuff like making a GUI to create easily custom post types and custom fields (like what ACF does), integrating features that would make wordpress a better experience like what Admin columns does, and Happy files for the media library, and giving a GUI to changing easily the order of the menu items in the backend, and the order of the post types, etc… I know this is all possible with code, but, since you are keen on making a visual page builder for ease of use, why not focus on what would make wordpress and actually great tool, and improve the CMS???
Thank you Dave,
Excelente!!! por fin ha evolucionado gutenberg. Mejorara mucho el cms y la experiencia de usuario
I have to say.. as I'm learning to use WordPress for a couple of weeks now, I wonder what's the point of all this complexity in the way it all works, with all the templates and putting the post and page content in those templates and all that? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or missing something here, but it all seems unnecessarily complicated to me.
Why not get rid of all that and just simply have a page editor where you can do it all… edit your content, edit your headers etc etc, plus good options to save your headers/footers and other parts that you want to re-use so you can use them on other pages. Add a decent site explorer where you can copy and paste these parts to other post and pages in a list view with a visual example or something like that and voilla, you can make websites easily and without all the "create this thing first and then put this thing in that thing, then let's see how that looks" which just seems unnecessary, overcomplicated and time-consuming.
Am I missing something here? What's the point of working with templates?
I'm just a beginner, but I already feel like WordPress has got a little lost in it's ways of doing things and could use a total refresh that simplifies things, instead of adding all kinds of workarounds to achieve things but in a unnecessary complicated way.
My god why didnβt I come across your channel earlier?
Truly good content!
This is a top tier presentation! Thank you, Dave! I can't wait to see and test the new outlined features!
How do you add functions to custom post type templates?
While I really like this video, I have the same suggestion here as I do for a lot of the information that is presented for new releases. Please make it clear what is specific to block themes and what will not (or might not) be available in classic themes. Much of "what's coming" since 5.9 does not apply to the vast majority of WordPress users. It's great to let everyone know what's available in block themes, but it is confusing for many to look for new features that just aren't there.
Thanks for the video Dave, very informative!
Just learned about fit and fill like 30 minutes ago from Anne Mccarthy's hallway hangout video. So exciting to keep seeing things improve.
Thank you for sharing, very concise and useful, can't wait for this to be out!
Thanks for the overview Dave, this is very useful!
